The Mohawk Towpath Byway was well represented at the National Scenic Byway Conference in Baltimore, MD May 20 to 23, 2007.  A majority of the 125 national scenic byways were represented and participated in  training, celebrations of our successes, and sharing ideas and perspectives.  Programs varied from "how to" sessions to visits and tours of successful byways.  Our involvement was to present our successful initiative on scenic and historic conservation on the Mohawk Towpath Byway.

"One of the most interesting sessions was devoted to telling a controversial story," reported Eric Hamilton.  "The story of the Underground Railroad Scenic Byway on Maryland's eastern shore ties into a layer of New York State history."

The real value of the Conference was in meeting with other byway enthusiasts and sharing experiences ...what works and what doesn't work from marketing to way-finding.
